HEART AND SEOUL August 29 - September 4,2005

HEART

Once attending Women's Conference, the speaker said: "One can't be a full moon every day. Sometimes, only a sliver". Since then, we have learned the meaning of this. Just as one cannot have Christmas every day, yet one can enjoy " joy in your heart" in different degrees.
Each week/month we share these unique experiences and serve in the temple we experience the spectrum of the moon and Christmas in different degrees. This past week a very beautiful full moon and joyous Christmas occurred to your mother on Wednesday, the day we arise at 4a.m. to be in preparation meeting at 5:15. There was no "sound of the trumpet" or "out of the ordinary event" except that, the spirit she enjoyed this day was sweet beyond description. Isn't it wonderful to enjoy the beauty of a "full moon" and a joyous Christmas every so often in our lives to help us realize how much the Lord loves us?
All of us at some time or another have our Gethsemanies that if we: "Be still, and know that I am God", He gives us peace and guides us through these challenges and we become a better person. We think of this for those dear children of God in Louisianna and Mississippi and pray that they too, will allow Him to help them through their Gethsemanie.
To our precious posterity, our prayer is likewise for we know our Heavenly Father and we love you.

SEOUL

As mentioned above, though the week was routine and uneventful, one day particularly stands out in our minds. That day is when the missionaries from one of the missions comes to the temple as part of their district meeting. Last Wednesday some sixty young Elders and few Sisters attended. The thing most striking about these young people is their alertness, dedication and reverance. They stand out among the Koreans first because they are an average of six or eight inches taller and their fair complextion is noticable. They carry themselves with an air of authority and importance. A few of them are Koreans and carry the same countenance. This is just one of the four missions in Korea that we have been privileged of serving every so often. Because of Jacob, Curtis and Trent who are all above average heighth and the special calling that they have, it should be of no surprise why they stand out in a crowd. They are in our daily prayers as we are sure they are in yours. The missionaries are a miraculous evidence of the truthfulness of the Lords church as they labor among His children.
