HEART AND SEOUL Oct.3-9, 2005

HEART

Dear Family,
After getting up in the middle of the night to hear live conference last week, we attended our branch today (Sunday) to watch it on video and were even more impressed with the important messages given by the brethren. All conferences are good, this one to us was exceptional. Perhaps it was because we heeded the council to listen closely to what was especially for us and the spirit strongly verified that to us. We look forward to November's Ensign to review it a third time.
Between sessions we had a picnic lunch out on the lawn of the church building.
We hope that you took special note of Elder Ko who spoke in the Sunday afternoon session. He has become our friend and we admire his abilities and devotion to the church. If you remember the movies presented with his talk, you will see some of the celebration that we attended the end of July. As we viewed them today, it brought a sweet remembrance of the spectacular event we described to you earlier on our blogger.

SEOUL

As of yesterday, the temple will be closed for two weeks. Two sessions only were scheduled for Saturday morning, one at 6a.m. and one at 8a.m. but the request to attend required expanding to five sessions beginning at 5:30a.m. and ending with the 8a.m. session. The members here really do support the temple and it is a great blessing to the whole nation of South Korea as a prophetic promise was given them that as they remain faithful they would be free from foreign invasion.
After doing hundreds of vicareous sealings in the past five months, last Friday your father had the opportunity of a live sealing for a young couple from our branch. We met Pamela Storz and her fiance Kyuhyun Cho shortly after we came to Korea. Pamela is from Germany with a Phillipine mother and German father. Kyuhyun is a Korean son of a widowed mother and well known deceased father. They met at BYU Hawaii and after a lengthy courtship adjusting to each others cultural differences, decided to marry and they requested your father to perform the sealing ordinance. It was a spiritual highlight as these two families of such different backgrounds came together in this Korean temple.
Though we don't have any exotic plans like our trip to China, during this cleaning shut down, we do plan to visit highlights in Korea and will give you a report.
