HEART AND SEOUL January 15 - 22, 2006

HEART

Dear Family,
We have spent another enjoyable Sunday as we participated in the baptism of Mary Hope. Mary and her American husband moved into the branch a couple of months ago. He being a member of the church but she not. The typical warm and immediate welcome by the branch members and especially her Phillipine brothers and sisters was accepted by Mary who commented following her baptism, "Now I have a family". Mary is a charming and petite young women who appears more to be thirteen than the actual thirty years she is. When invited to take the missionary discussions, she accepted and has fully embraced the gospel. At her baptism today, she ask your father to give the talk on the Holy Ghost.
The Phillipine brothers and sisters in our branch formed a strong nucleus of brotherhood and it has been so enjoyable to see them progress from levies and work shirts to dress pants and white shirts and ties as they are involved nearly every Sunday in passing the Sacrament. They immediately pick up on any one of their nationality and embrace them into the gospel. So, Ray and Carol, send us your people and we will baptize them and send them back to you.

SEOUL

Our winter has been somewhat typical of last year with a minimal of snow and temperatures around freezing. If anything, January has been a bit milder than January of last year but as the days go longer, the hope of spring is in the air.
On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, your mother joins six of the other missionaries for their 6a.m.to 7a.m. morning walk. Thanks to David Chon, whose youth and stamina leads these sisters to their healthy life style. The other mornings, she faithfully exercises with her aroebic tape. (It's enough to send your father back to bed.)
Speaking of your father, he paid his last weekly visit to the Dr. who gave him some more pills and said, "Don't bother me again until March when I will check your liver progress". Other than recovering from excessive aspirin and early tiredness, he is doing fine. ( He ask the Dr. why he was short of breath, and the Dr. looked at him dryly and said: "Old Age". Not very comforting.)
