HEART

The topic of the week is Curtis's "Return with Honor" homecoming. How pleased we were to hear the great reports from Susan, Dan, Ed and Jan. Trent will be the next one home and Tyler is still waiting for his visa to Spain. A mission of sorts will be Wade & Julie's eighteen month assignment in Atlanta, Georgia where Wade will assist in auditing the books of Delta Airlines for Ernst & Young. His work commences March 14th, Julie & family to join in May.
You'll remember last summer when your father confirmed Joanna, the Chinese girl? After her school was over she returned to China and we thought we would not see her again. However, last Sunday there she was as we entered the subway heading for church and today she bore her testimony. Once again, the Lord has performed a miracle in her behalf. Attending church in China was way too difficult in that there were threats of her life, losing her job and never able to attend school there. Within her home, her communist parents have totally accepted her baptism and her belief in God. In fact, she taught them how to pray. She herself, was not able to attend church but she continually read the scriptures and prayed. "There is power in the book and in prayer," she said as she bore her testimony. She applied for schooling here in Korea in changing her major from law to international affairs. She desperately wanted to return to Korea where she could attend church or in other words, have the freedom to worship as she desired. The miracle occured with her being accepted and offered full scholarship which in no way, would she have been able to attend without that scholarship. Dear Family, don't ever take the gospel for granted or what the blessings the Lord has in store for His children when they seek Him.
Your father was given a full bill of health as he kept his appointment to have a Sonogram. The technician concluded there was NO CANCER in the growths on the liver. Happy Day, another great 'tender mercy.'

SEOUL

Following is a report of a typical weekend for your parents. Saturday night we meet with our other missionary couples and this week, we watched the movie "Second Hand Lions". Sunday morning we walked with our Canadian missionary friends to the subway which in about thirty minutes took us to where we walk the remaining blocks to our meeting house. We try to arrive in time to assist in greeting the branch members as they come. Our sacrament was conducted by Brother Cho, a Korean, who was recently sustained as a member of the Branch Presidency. He and his wife Pam, from Germany, were married/sealed in December and was sealed by your father. The music was accompanied by Cheong-Yeom Adair, the Korean sister who was married to an American in December, also sealed by your father. The sacrament was passed by the recent Phillipine converts and when the meeting was turned over for testimonies, the majority of testimonies were given by our Phillipine friends, one of whom has recently been sustained as a ward clerk. Joanna Ling, from China and as mentioned above, also bore her testimony. In our Sunday School class some of those who participated were from Australia, New Zealand and many of the different states in the U.S.A.
Your parents were ask to participate in the primary exercises where we mingled with the multi-cultural off-spring of all these nationalities. The children were intensely interested in the many missions we have served and one of the teachers was excited when we mentioned Preston, England which was near her home. We were impressed with the childrens knowledge of the prophets in the scriptures and they seemed equally impressed with the prophets that have influenced our lives
Following our meetings we chatted with Gilbert Kabonga from the Congo and several investigators from Korea who are presently receiving discussions from our missionaries. We walked back to the subway in the company of a member since 1998 from the Chech Republic. Did we mention the word Americans there? Yes, by the score and many other nationalities that don't come immediate to mind. This was our somewhat typical experience and as you know, our concluding Sabbath Day is spent in with thoughts of our family and writing our blog.
