Family Ties October 7-14, 2007

Dear Family,

We use too look at the state of an empty nester as being a senior citizen status. Recognizing that Dan & Ann are empty nesters and others of you could be in a few short years, helps us feel younger. In our empty nester group, some of the participants are the age of our children. We enjoy the association and we attend nearly all of the monthly socials. There are quite a number in our ward boundaries who are in this catagory. Last Monday we attended this social in the home of Dennis and Susan Bursell. We have as many as eight non-members who frequently attend. We sat at the table of one of the ladies where she told us of her twelve years experience in working in the White House. She even said that "24" is pretty accurate in the security level.

We concentrated our efforts this week in winterizing the cabin and securing wood from nearby construction to supplement our fuel needs. So far we have had up to eight inches of snow though now it is melted and feel ready winter ready.

Though we were unable to celebrate in person, we did honor Tanner and Jan's birthdays and Ed & Debbies Anniversary. What joy it is to have these great people a part of our eternal family.

This week our home teacher came which we enjoyed since the summer months we were never able to get together with either them or us being away. We are ever grateful for faithful VT and HT.

Jenny had a brief set back on her recovery from the birth of her baby girl and spent time recuperating at her parents home and our latest information indicates both she and her baby are daily gaining strength. Speaking of babies, though we are unable to attend Natalies shower yesterday, we were able to attend dinner with her and Susan, along with Janessa and her friend T and Whitney and our Korean friend, Jinsook. This was a enjoyable climax to our temple service and our week. As a reminder, Natalie expects her baby Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully the baby will arrive early so Thanksgiving Day everyone can be at the Hymas Reunion.
