HEART AND SEOUL

"HEART" May 10 - 16

This week serving in the temple remains uplifting and enjoyable. Our surprise came with an honored invitation to an Open House. You would have to call Dr. Choe a pioneer in the church here in Korea. He and his wife have raised their four children in the church and all of whom are very active with beautiful families of their own. He has been a Stake President and served as a Temple President prior to our current president. Dr. Choe is perhaps the best known dentist in all of Seoul. At the age of seventy, he has just completed a new three story office building with dental facilities.
Dr. Choe loves the missionaries and included us in his invitation list to his Open House. This was an elaborate affair. Customary with new business's/buildings, friends send large arrangements of flowers. Room after room was adorned with orchids, roses, and all types of beautiful flowers. The smorgasboard of food was attractive and better than any Korean food we've eaten.
Even at his age, Dr. Choe continues to practice denistry because he loves what he does. His equipment and offices are state of the art and we have yet to see anything finer, even in America. It was an enjoyable evening to climax what had been a good week at the temple.

"SEOUL"

The Budhists celebrate May 15th like we celebrate Christmas and in many ways there decorations are as elaborate. Just across the street from the temple is a Budhist temple and the building and parking lot were decorated literally with hundreds of electirical oriental lanters which illuminated the neighborhood for several days in the month of May. Members of this religion are very devout and they come to their church with their families wearing their "Sunday best". It is obvious they have deep love and respect for each other.
This is an added memory to our experiences in Korea.
