HEART May 14 - May 21, 2006

Dear Family,
This is the time of year for cruises. Have you scheduled yours? Jen and Dan just returned from their cruise as did Steve and Liz while Janessa and some of her friends are about to embark on their cruise celebrating their graduation and will be chaperoned by Susan and Mike. Yet to enjoy an Alaskan cruise in September will be Dan and Ann with Ann's mother Betty and sister Jan. Our cruise of five years ago with some of you, still remains one of the memorable highlights of our lives.
As of May 17th, Julie and Wade's family have moved to Atlanta, Georgia for the next eighteen months. Upon Jeff's graduation was offered a fine job with Interstate Rock Products and as of June 3rd, graduation day, will leave Salt Lake City. Mark and Steve are contemplating job opportunities while Janie, also a spring graduate, is just enjoying freedom from studies. Jared, Dan,Matt and Andrew anticipate graduating this coming year.
We, your grandparents, congratulate each one of you for the dedicated effort you have made and contiually make in achieving your goals in life. We feel honored in being your grandparents and extend our love and joy in your success.


SEOUL


Our friendly institution and local hospital invited us last Monday to it's first year anniversary. We were treated to a Chinese buffet dinner and acknowledged for our patronage. Actually, we along with our other temple missionaries and several young elders were invited by Dr. Linton through President Sellers to represent the foreign community. Dr. Linton is in charge of the International Wing of the hospital and is very influential in the management of this huge hospital, which as we mentioned before is one of the major hospitals in Korea. We have seen many large buildings in Korea but were not surprised when it was reported that this building is the second largest in all of Korea with over two million square feet floor space. In spite of it's ominous title, the reason it is called Severence is because of the Presbyterian minister early last century, whose name was Severence, was the builder of the original hospital. The missionaries made a significant presense among officials from the city, the military, the American Embassy and the educational field. It was fun being there and those present certainly recognized that the LDS church was represented. It was interesting to note that the Drs. who attended our needs last December, remembered their patient.
Following our Saturday assignments at the temple, we and the Kastendieck's were treated by the other temple missionaries...Kim, Park, Kim, Chons and Guinns to a picnic. We were driven to a part of Seoul unfamiliar to us. We found it to be a more elegant section consisting mainly of large apartment complex's surrounding a huge park. In the middle of this park was a water fountain and at dusk the fountain began to play beautiful music and shoot water into the air that turned color and danced to the music through electronic operation. Accompaning the water sprays were huge puffs of flames to accentuate the display. Each Saturday and Sunday the people are treated to this musical fountain and large numbers attended last night. Following our picnic of Korean treats and prior to the fountain, we took a walk on one of the walking paths that are provided. It was a memorable evening with generous friends.
