HEART May 21-28, 2006

Dear Family,
Ed's birthday has come and gone and we were happy to hear he and Dave got out to a birthday lunch. We thought of them as we both delivered talks to the young single adults of our district. The theme of your dad's talk was "IF" and among other great IF'S that young adults are confronted with Rudyard Kipling's poem IF was used. How well we remember so many years ago where each of you boys upon turning the age of twelve were challenged to memorize this poem and given a five dollar bill with the stipulation that if at anytime you were unable to recite it, the tokened bill would have to be returned to your father. In all these years none of you have had to return the five dollars. Do you still have this poem memorized?
We both received compliments upon our talks and felt good about our presentations. There was no doubt in our minds that the spirit of the Lord had been with us as it had been with the young couple who gave the first work shop, ours was the second and Pres. Mckinney gave the concluding remarks which each talk built upon the preceeding talk and none of us new what the other one was doing. There were some fifty young men and women attending this three day retreat and we were amazed at their talents and spirituality. Those concluding three hours of Saturday and their attentiveness was impressive to say the least.

SEOUL

We just returned from a Sunday fireside at the Sindong Ward where President Brian and Sister Shirley Sellers gave a farewell fireside. Even though most of those in attendance were missionaries from his mission and couple missionaries who have regularly met together on FHE, there was a sizable number of devoted Korean Latter Day Saints who showed their affection by attending this fireside. The teenage brother and his younger sister who we have now heard a number of times on their violins, performed beautifully. Your father remarked "were he wealthy, he would sponsor these gifted musicians to put on a concert on temple square." Of equal quality, though half their age, a little brother and his sister sang a duet that thrilled everyone present. Pres. & Sis. Sellers delivered excellent heart-felt talks in English with Korean interpreters.
Koreans always have refreshments following their activities and tonight was more than just refreshments, it was a full buffet dinner.
Adding to the pleasantry of our Sabbath was the visit of Yeonyi Kim, who wanted to be with us one more time before we left Korea. She attended our Sacrament meeting, our temple preparation class that we teach and returned home with us for dinner before travelling back to her home in Ansan. One of the other Korean's in our class was baptized in California as was Yeonyi and both of them two years ago..Yeonyi in June and Ingee in July...what a coincidence for them to end up in a temple preparation class.
