FAMILY TIES NOV.20-26, 2006

Dear Family,

This has been a very memorable Thanksgiving week. Monday was Marie's annual birthday lunch with her friend Lorraine Hatch. She drove to the valley and felt the security of our new studded snow tires and returned home just before dark to the relief of your father. (She also did her Christmas shopping...yey hoo!)

David had invited us to be with his family on Thanksgiving Day and we in turn invited our little Korean friend, JinSook Lee, to join us in that celebration. JinSook had not been exposed to our Thanksgiving holiday before and seemed delighted to be with all of David's children from the babies on up. We were never quite sure how she really enjoyed our traditional turkey dinner but if she didn't like it, she hid the fact well. We participated in their family Turkey Bowl football game and much to the fun, the team JinSook was on won by a score of 14 to 6 . Except for Jan too sick to join the festivities, it was a perfect Thanksgiving celebration.

The three of us returned to the cabin that night and the next morning we decorated the tree purchased a few days prior and is surely your mothers dream tree. It has a beautiful slim shape and is thirteen feet tall. Without the loft it would have been nearly impossible to decorate. This too was a new experience for JinSook who had never had a fresh cut Christmas tree.

Saturday morning was our temple assignment so we drove JinSook to her campus dorm and then fulfilled our assignment. Prior arrangements had been made with Dan & Wanda to meet us at Cowboy Grub 4:30p.m. which allowed us to listen enroute to the last quarter of the annual BYU/UofU Football game where in the final seconds of the game, John Beck thru a touchdown pass winning the game 33 to 31. This ended a remarkable football season for the Y who won the conference championship.

We drove to Cal & Virginia's apt. in their daughter Vickie's new home in West Weber. Virginia had prepared a delicious dinner for us and we spent some choice hours reminiscing at this our annual Christmas social. We were able to return to our cabin about 10:30p.m.

Both of us had teaching assignments today where we first taught our Temple Preparation class and Marie taught her monthly RS lesson on the significance of the Sacrament. It was good to have heard from Jan informing us that she has mostly recovered from her Thanksgiving Day illness. Both she and Dave had speaking assignments in their ward and Angela, Cyndi, Mary Jane, and Christine sang a musical number. Had we not had commitments in our ward, it would have been great to have been there.
