Family Ties Nov. 25-Dec.3, 2006

FAMILY TIES November 25 - December 3, 2006

Dear Family,
Today is Fast Sunday and we have completed our Temple Preparation Class. We arrived home late last night from the BYU "Christmas Around the World" at the Marriott Center. Many years have passed since we last attended this annual event and we were inspired to see the number of BYU students perform in such a professional, almost incomparable manner. Earlier in the day we filled our assignment at the Provo Temple, which is always uplifting.
Friday night was a similar spiritual experience as we attended the Messiah Sing-a-long which is held annually at the Lehi Stake Tabernacle. However, this is a first for us to attend and we not only had fun singing once again the Messiah, but the guest performers were outstanding.
We left home about noon Friday, so that we could attend another annual event that was for us a first. This was the Christmas in Midway celebration that has become popular with many, many people. Hundreds of Creche (manger scenes) were on display in the Midway Stake Center and it would be hard to estimate the value of many of these manger scenes to the extent that many security guards were in place for their protection. We also enjoyed the Ginger Bread contest/fun raising displays presented in another building. Finally we ate lunch at the Midway City building where a miniture Swiss Days was held.
Monday night our Family Home Evening was spent with the Sorensens where we enjoyed an excellent Hallmark production as well as, delightful conversation. It is always comforting for all of us to know we are close if any emergency were to arrive.
We enjoyed a beautiful snow storm dropping about 14 inches and though the temperatures have dropped as low as 8 to 10 degrees below zero, we have enjoyed the warmth and comfort of our cabin. The Mink Blankets really do work.
Winter Wonderland is outside our door and the Spirit of Christmas is within.
